13-year-old boy allegedly shot dead classmate after bus fight

A tragic incident unfolded in Baytown, Texas, where a 14-year-old girl named Anaya Zachary was shot dead on a playground by a 13-year-old classmate. The heartbreaking event occurred after the two students had a dispute on the school bus earlier in the day. The young boy, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, allegedly went home, dressed in black, donned a mask, and returned to the playground to target Anaya.

Anaya’s godmother, Sonya Stanford, revealed that the boy called out Anaya’s name before shooting her four times. Despite claims that Anaya never bullied the boy, it was evident that they did not get along. Anaya was described as a sweet, honor roll student who never caused trouble. Stanford expressed her disbelief and sorrow over the senseless act of violence that took Anaya’s life.

In a surprising turn of events, Stanford expressed forgiveness towards the boy and placed the blame on his parents for allowing him access to a gun. She emphasized the importance of responsible gun ownership and expressed disappointment in the parents for not safeguarding their child from committing such a heinous act.

The boy was charged with murder and is currently in custody, while the mother who was injured while holding her baby during the shooting received medical treatment. The Baytown Police Chief, John Stringer, addressed the community, acknowledging the devastating impact of the incident and emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violence and the importance of fostering a culture of peace and understanding within communities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Anaya Zachary as they navigate through this unimaginable loss.
