FAMU Shooting has left one dead
One man has died and four other people have been injured in a shooting on the campus of Florida A&M University (FAMU). What happened during Sunday’s shooting is still being uncovered. However, none of the victims were students at the college, it appears.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, an outside shooting took place at the Hansel Tookes Student Recreation Center, as reported by The Tallahassee Democrat.
Tallahassee Police Department spokesperson Heather Merritt confirmed that the victims were taken to a hospital, where one man succumbed to his wounds. The three surviving men and the 16-year-old boy had injuries that ranged from serious to minor. As of now, all the victims are still hospitalized.
“After the tragedy, Larry Robinson, the president of FAMU, released a statement Sunday night in order to reassure the FAMU community that the shooting incident on campus is not a continuing threat to the university,”
“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students and campus,” Robinson continued. ”
As the investigation continues, the FAMU Campus Safety Department is working with the Tallahassee Police Department. We are thinking of and praying for the victims and their families.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, according to the police department. FAMU’s police department is assisting the Tallahassee Police Department with their investigation.
