8-time felon scored $10,000 haul by stealing packages in West Town, officials say

Andrew Clark (Chicago Police Department)

Chicago Man Arrested for Package Thefts

A recent string of package thefts in West Town has been linked to a repeat offender with a long history of criminal activity. Andrew Clark, a 57-year-old man with eight previous felony convictions, was apprehended near his residence on North Hoyne following an investigation by the Chicago Police Department.

According to police reports, Clark is accused of breaking into a condo building on North Hoyne and stealing a package from the mailroom. Additionally, he allegedly burglarized a business on West Hubbard on two separate occasions, making off with various items including Amazon packages valued at $10,000.

The targeted business, which offers a service to prevent package theft by acting as an intermediary between delivery companies and recipients, was among Clark’s victims. Despite his criminal history, which includes convictions for burglary and armed robbery dating back to the early 1990s, Clark was released on electronic monitoring by Judge Luciano Panici, Jr.

Clark’s previous convictions include armed robbery offenses in 1997 and 2003, as well as burglary charges in 2015 and 2019. Court records also show a probationary sentence for robbery and aggravated battery in 1991.

The arrest of Andrew Clark serves as a reminder of the ongoing issue of package theft in urban areas and the importance of taking precautions to protect deliveries. Residents and businesses are encouraged to utilize secure delivery options and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
