Democrat Fears Of Losing Latino Voters Clearer Now More Than Ever
Democrat fears of losing an even larger segment of the Hispanic and Latino voting bloc have been real for the last three election cycles, but their nightmare may become a harsh reality come the 2022 midterms that are just over a month away.
MSNBC contributor Paola Ramos is sounding the alarm that Latinos are “walking away from the Democratic Party,” but whether the DNC will listen as to why is a completely different question.
During a recent appearance on “Morning Joe,” Ramos previewed an upcoming episode of her program regarding this topic, saying that “The larger picture is that Latinas have been sending a message for the last four years.”

Ramos explained that going back to the 2020 election, “Donald Trump won seven of the 14 [counties] along the U.S.-Mexico border, and he was able to flip two of those and he made significant inroads in places like the Rio Grande Valley.”
Additionally, Ramos pointed out the historic special election victory which propelled Rep. Mayra Flores to be the first Republican elected to that district in many decades: “Three Latina Republicans in South Texas that are running for office that are completely transforming the dynamics of politics in Texas,” said Ramos.
That certainly tracks with The Political Insider’s Becky Noble, who has been following the story of the three Republican women on the border; Mayra Flores, Adrienne Pena-Garza, and Hilda Garza-DeShazo.

“We’re not trying to say that Republicans are winning the national Latino vote,” Ramos continued. “We’re saying Democrats are losing it. The Latinos are sending a message, and we need to listen.”
Ramos also added that “immigration has truly never been a top issue for Latinos. And I think that’s the myth. The myth is if you talk about migrants, you know, if you show these stories, then Latinas will vote for you. That’s not true. Latinas care about economy, they care about crime, they care about jobs, they care about education. That’s it.
“They wanted to be talked to and spoken to the same way Democrats would go out for any other vote.”
Ramos isn’t alone in that last observation, either.
Legendary Democrat strategist James Carville has been harping on the same point for years now:
“What went wrong is stupid wokeness. Don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Washington. I mean this ‘defund the police’ lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools, people see that. And it really has a suppressive effect all across the country on Democrats.”

What Latino Voters Are Saying
In an interview with Latino voters in Texas recently, NewsNation gained insight that supports the claims Ramos has made about Latinas in particular being disenfranchised with the Democratic Party.
“I remember when I was a little kid and I asked my mom, ‘What is a Democrat and what is a Republican?’ She turned around and look at me and said, ‘Mija, the Democrats are for poor people and the Republicans are for rich people and we are poor so we are Democrats,’” said Lydia Dominguez, a two-time Obama voter who was born in Mexico but came to the United States to join the Air Force and raise her two sons.
“I didn’t know I was conservative until I really looked at myself and my values, and said I don’t believe in this,” said Dominguez. “I don’t believe in this movement anymore.”
Like many Latino voters, Dominguez is not a supporter of the Democrats’ extreme stances regarding access to abortion up until birth, as well as the extreme issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ movement and their attempt to completely distort traditional family values.
