You Now Can Preview Medicare Health and Drug Plans for 2023
Medicare open enrollment is on the way, and you now can preview next year’s health and drug plans at the official website.
Open enrollment begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7
During this period, Medicare beneficiaries can choose a new Medicare Part D drug plan or a new Medicare Advantage plan. Beneficiaries can also use this period to switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan, or vice versa.
All changes will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023.
To get a sneak peek at next year’s plans, you will need to create a Medicare.gov account or log into an existing account. You can then review your 2023 options.
It is important to review your options every year, as Medicare health and drug plans often make changes that can impact your cost and coverage, and the types of providers and pharmacies that are in your plan’s network. According to the federal government:
“People in a Medicare health or prescription drug plan should always review the materials their plans send them, like the ‘Evidence of Coverage’ (EOC) and ‘Annual Notice of Change’ (ANOC). If their plans are changing, they should make sure their plans will still meet their needs for the following year. If they’re satisfied that their current plans will meet their needs for next year and it’s still being offered, they don’t need to do anything.
Medicare can be a lifeline for retirees. But it won’t cover all of your health care costs.
