Jay Z adds Samurai watch to his collection
Jay-Z is hardly ever seen wearing the same watch twice. He knows what he’s doing, whether he’s tracking down rare one-of-one Rolex pieces, wearing an interesting and unique vintage Patek Philippe Nautilus, or picking over the new releases to find the best of the best. Hov’s latest watch, the Richard Mille released in April of this year, fits the description of being very expensive. Although we’re accustomed to seeing Richard Mille showcase his technical prowess, this watch also has the type of backstory you don’t typically see in watches.
Featuring a fully hand-carved samurai honor and two golden feathers, the mark of the historic Asano clan of samurai, this piece is sure to impress. Asano Naganori’s clan bided their time over almost two years to avenge their fallen leader after he was forced to commit seppuku in 1701. RM 47 is a reference number that explains the plot was carried out by 47 rōnin (or leaderless samurai). What other watch brands would make a watch inspired by a legendary tale of Japanese samurai? You cannot! RM does not need to emulate other brands by focusing on racing, diving, and aviation exploits in order to create a Jay-Z-worthy timepiece; instead, RM can rely on the Bushido, or moral code of the samurai, to produce an innovative and fashionable product. We need to mention, it costs a million bucks.
