Cardi B Admits What Has Been Keeping Her From Releasing Her New Album: ‘I Have Gotten Too Comfortable’
The release of Cardi B’s sophomore album has been held up by something that she candidly revealed. The rapper became vulnerable with fans about the reasons for the holdup on Dec. 6.
She said a lack of confidence in the quality of the music, criticism, and separation anxiety have all contributed to the delay in an Instagram Live. Cardi spoke with fans about the four-year delay as she walked around her home. ”
She started by acknowledging the fans’ questions about new music and then proceeded to be honest with herself.
“I feel like I have gotten too comfortable because, you know – I’m just a mom, and I do have anxiety.” “I’ve been having a lot of anxiety because I know that right after I drop my album, I’ll have to go out on tour,” she said.
“I get really bad separation anxiety from my kids when I have to leave them for extended periods of time.” She wasn’t feeling the spark in the studio, Bronx native divulged. ”
“When it comes to music, I just don’t feel like I like anything.” I feel like I have so many songs. I just don’t like anything. No matter what I do, it’s never good enough. I have so much money saved up, I don’t care what anyone says.
She then stated that music has begun to feel like a “job” and that she was over the constant criticism. She said that making music has become like a job that gives her anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that she does. She continued, “It’s just like, sometimes you don’t want to do something that gives you that much anxiety, so I just freeze myself, but I have to let that go.”
“Performing is my favorite part of what I consider my ‘job,'” Cardi said before vocalizing the need to get her music out there. She said that it “awakens” a different part of her. She then mentioned her recent private performance during Art Basel in Miami.
Cardi B said her 35-minute performance brought her a payday of $1 million, as reported by Blavity. Variety recently announced that Cardi B has officially signed a new management deal with Irving and Jeffrey Azoff’s Full Stop Management. We will be getting new music from Cardi soon, hopefully with the guidance of new management and the push from the fans.
