Public disapproval of Karl Malone participating in NBA All Star games because of past
Karl Malone, once celebrated 14-time NBA All-Star, recently announced as a judge for the upcoming All-Star weekend dunk contest, almost spent his entire career (except his final season in Los Angeles) with the Utah Jazz.
Upon discovering this information, some people expressed disapproval of Malone participating in the annual game, given his past relationship with a 13-year-old girl.
According to Audacy, when NBA great was 20 and playing collegiate basketball at Louisiana Tech, he impregnated a 13-year-old girl before making it to the league. Demetress Bell, the son born out of that relationship, ended up making it to the NFL despite no charges being pressed.
However, Malone had no relationship with his estranged son. Bell played offensive line for both the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. He didn’t encounter Malone until he reached the age of 17.
Fans on Twitter and other social media platforms questioned why the NBA would permit a “pedophile” to hold such a prominent position when they knew this information.
The Daily Beast once reported that his reputation had been soiled due to him being labeled a non-supportive father who had refused to pay child support for twins he had when he was 17. His then-teammate, Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, was allegedly subject to a pass from him, according to them.
Quickly, Twitter users noted the personality of the former NBA player, nicknamed “The Mailman”.
Many Twitter users also made reference to the number 13 in relation to Malone getting a 13-year-old girl pregnant. When you search for “Karl Malone 13”, you will find articles from the past (and some current ones) discussing the revelations about the situation that produced his NFL-playing son.
