The Final Four teams for the Men’s NCAA Tournament are set following the victories of San Diego State and Miami
Three schools that have never made it to the Final Four in the men’s NCAA Tournament since 1970 are set to make their debut appearances after winning their matches. The fifth-seeded San Diego State University and Miami, the 5th seed, will play on Sunday.
San Diego State University has secured its first-ever spot in the Final Four after a tightly-fought match that resulted in a 57-56 triumph over No. 6 Creighton, who will play at the KFC Yum! Arena. Louisville, Kentucky, has a center.
The Bluejays and Aztecs were deadlocked at 56 when a foul was called on Bluejays’ guard Ryan Nembhard against Aztecs’ guard Darrion Trammell with only 1.2 seconds remaining in the game. Upon reviewing the footage, it was revealed that Nembhard had placed his left hand on Trammell’s right hip while the latter was attempting a shot.
During the postgame news conference, Trammell expressed that the moment didn’t seem too overwhelming despite all the experiences he has been through. It looks like the opportunity was simply presented to me. Believing in God’s timing was crucial, and I maintained my confidence even though I missed the first opportunity. I was certain that I wouldn’t miss the second one.
The Aztecs were granted two free throws which Trammell took. Although he missed the first, he made the second shot thereby securing the lead for the team. During the postgame news conference, Nembhard expressed how challenging it was to cope with the foul call, stating, “It’s a difficult sensation.” We put in our best efforts throughout the year, and it all boils down to a single play like that. I feel that there was room for improvement in order to avoid the close outcome, yet it’s a brutal loss to accept.
SDSU is scheduled to compete against a team ranked as No. On Saturday, April 1, two teams competing in the Final Four for the very first time, 9-seed Florida Atlantic and Houston, Texas, will face each other.
