LSU’s Reese unapologetic over gestures to Iowa star Clark
“This was for the girls that look like me, that’s going to speak up on what they believe in,” Reese said in the post-game news conference. “It’s unapologetically you.”
When the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the previously undefeated defending national champion, South Carolina, in the semifinals, the Associated Press Player of the Year didn’t hold back her emotions. Standing tall at 6-foot-3, the stylish post with modeling ambitions is gaining significant attention on social media. Reese even caught the eye of rapper Lil Wayne after she scolded him for reaching out to their Elite Eight opponent Miami before doing the same with the Tigers.
However, Reese acknowledges that she wouldn’t be where she is without the support of her teammates and coaches. In the Final Four, she had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while three of her teammates scored at least 20 points. Reese’s outstanding performance earned her the Most Outstanding Player title at the event, and she also set an NCAA single-season record with her 34th double-double against the Hawkeyes.
Despite receiving criticism on social media, Reese isn’t fazed and admits to enjoying reading the comments. She even keeps screenshots of everything people say about her throughout the season, and challenges them by asking, “What are you going to say now?”
