Money Bag Yo opens restaurant in hometown of Memphis, TN
AfroTech reports that Moneybagg Yo, a popular rapper, has joined the growing list of musicians who have diversified into the restaurant industry. The artist recently opened a restaurant and lounge called Cache 42 Kitchen & Cocktails in his hometown of Memphis, TN. On March 31, he held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion, inviting guests to experience his latest entrepreneurial venture.
According to Commercial Appeal, Chef Daris Leatherwood, who has worked at renowned establishments like Ruth’s Chris Steak House and for Lil Wayne, leads the kitchen at Cache 42 while Jason Spicer oversees operations as the manager. While Moneybagg Yo is not involved in the day-to-day running of the restaurant, Spicer revealed that the rapper has been personally involved in every aspect of the business.
Cache 42 comprises two distinct sections for its patrons, the Dining Room and the Living Room. The former provides an upscale dining experience, and reservations are recommended for table seating, but walk-ins are welcome for bar seating. The latter is a hookah lounge that features clean hip hop music, and while mingling is allowed, seating is compulsory. Spicer emphasized that there will be no standing room in the lounge, and once every seat is taken, it will be considered at capacity. Each table has a two-hour maximum time allotment, and the Living Room is currently open to walk-ins only, although reservations will soon be accepted.
In April 2023, Cache 42 is set to operate for dinner only, but Spicer revealed that the restaurant intends to introduce brunch services for Saturdays and Sundays in about a month’s time. Prior to opening his restaurant, Moneybagg Yo had already established himself as a businessman with various ventures, including a tobacco line, his own water brand, and his signature Rap Snacks.
