16 year old black high school student shot twice for ringing the wrong door bell

Following a shooting incident in Kansas City, protests have erupted as a white homeowner shot a Black teenager who mistakenly went to the wrong house to pick up his younger twin brothers. According to police, 16-year-old Ralph Yarl had gone to his friend’s house to collect his siblings on April 13, but he accidentally went to the wrong house, and the unidentified white homeowner shot him twice in the head and arm. The teenager is currently in stable condition in the hospital as of Sunday night. The shooter was initially taken into custody on Thursday but was released without charges under Missouri state law after a 24-hour hold. The victim’s family, represented by civil rights attorneys Ben Crump and Lee Merritt, is demanding justice, and the incident has sparked protests in the city. The police chief stated that there was no evidence of racial motivation, but the victim’s family believes the shooting was a hate crime. Due to the victim’s injuries, police have been unable to obtain a formal statement.
