Neighbors of Rick Ross want to prevent his big event
Residents of Fayetteville, Georgia, are up in arms over rap mogul Rick Ross’s latest extravaganza, a car and bike show with a star-studded concert on his large property on Hwy 279. Some neighbors have had enough of Ross’s outward displays of wealth and eccentricities, which have been compromising their quality of life. They complain that the event will cause a bottleneck in the neighborhood, as it did a year ago when Ross hosted a similar show.
At a recent Fayette County Board of Commissioners meeting, neighbors armed with a signed petition opposing the show expressed their grievances. One neighbor stated, “I have the petitions here that we signed.” Another said, “Our quality of life was unnecessarily compromised.” A third person added, “We feel locked out. It took me 40 minutes to get out of my subdivision.”
Some residents have threatened to go on vacation if Ross is allowed to attract another 6,000 people to the small subdivision. Others have pointed out that his property is not zoned for a concert, car, and bike show.
The board has yet to make a ruling on whether to permit Ross to host the event on June 3. The controversy highlights the irony of a sleepy, quiet, and quaint Atlanta suburb becoming the site of such ruckus and acrimony.
