BET Awards set to return June 2023
The BET Awards 2023 is slated to make its return live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 25th, and will be celebrating five decades of Hip Hop during the broadcast. The show, known as Culture’s Biggest Night, has been the top cable award show for all adults aged 18-49 for two years consecutively in 2022 and 2021. Additionally, the program has remained the number one cable award show for Black adults aged 18-49 for the 21st consecutive year (CY02-CY22).
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event. She mentioned that BET is thrilled to be back in Los Angeles, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. Connie further stated that Hip Hop has been a global phenomenon and has not only influenced American culture but has become one of the most influential musical genres of our lifetime.
According to Orlando, BET has always provided a platform for Hip Hop to flourish in every aspect, including music, fashion, art, and entertainment. She added that the network looks forward to paying homage to the pioneers and innovators of Hip Hop while amplifying the new generation of Hip Hop artists, as only BET can.
The event will be overseen and Executive Produced by Connie Orlando, with Jamal Noisette, VP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy serving as Co-Executive Producer for BET. Jesse Collins Entertainment is the production company for the show, and Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay will also be serving as Executive Producers.
