Man who used chair in Montgomery brawl avoids jail time
Reggie Bernard Ray, who became known for his use of a folding chair during the Montgomery brawl, has avoided jail time. Following his guilty plea to disorderly conduct on December 11, Montgomery Municipal Judge Milton Westry gave Ray a 90-day suspended jail sentence. Additionally, Ray is required to complete 50 hours of community service and pay $357 in court costs. This case was the last of six related to the incident to be resolved in court, with the other cases receiving various penalties including jail time, public apologies, probation, and anger management programs. The brawl, which occurred over the summer, gained widespread attention on social media.
