Mathew Knowles’ Memoir “Racism From the Eyes of a Child” Set for Film and TV Adaptations
Mathew Knowles, music manager and father of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, is set to bring his 2017 memoir, “Racism From the Eyes of a Child,” to the screen. The memoir, which delves into Knowles’ experiences growing up in Alabama during the 1960s, amidst racial tensions, is being adapted into both a feature film and a television series. The project, in collaboration with Say Unkel Entertainment, will focus on the first half of the book for the motion picture, highlighting the formative years of Knowles in the context of the Civil Rights Movement and influential figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph Abernathy.
Knowles’ journey in the music industry began with founding Music World Entertainment in 1992 and managing the Houston-based girl group Destiny’s Child, leading them to multiple Grammy Award wins. The professional and personal dynamics between Knowles and his daughter Beyoncé, who later embarked on a highly successful solo career, add another layer of depth to his story.
This adaptation of Knowles’ memoir is a significant addition to the cultural narrative, offering insights into the complexities of race, family, and the entertainment industry.
