Sage Steele Speaks Out: ESPN’s Request to Silence Tweets on Transgender Athlete Controversy
Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele revealed that the network requested her not to tweet or comment on social media about transgender swimmer Lia Thomas’s participation in women’s sports. Steele had expressed her opposition to biological males who transition to female competing against biological females.
Despite ESPN’s request, Steele continued to express her views, stating that this issue was a hill she was willing to “die on,” as she believed it to be a matter of scientific facts and biology. ESPN did not comment on Steele’s claims. This controversy came to light after Steele settled a lawsuit with ESPN earlier in the year, where she alleged the company infringed on her free speech rights related to Disney’s vaccine mandates.
