Isreal Prepared to Launch Offensive in Lebanon

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has issued a stern warning, stating that Israel is prepared to launch an offensive in Lebanon “in an instant” if Hezbollah does not cease its attacks on northern Israel. This threat comes amid escalating tensions and frequent cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, which have intensified following the recent Hamas-led assault on Israel.

The Israeli military has validated plans for a potential offensive in Lebanon, aimed at pushing Hezbollah away from the border. This move is seen as a response to Hezbollah’s ongoing rocket and drone attacks, which have prompted the evacuation of thousands of Israeli residents from the north.

Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has responded by declaring that the group is ready to fight “without limits” if Israel proceeds with its offensive. He has emphasized that Hezbollah’s actions are tied to the situation in Gaza and that a cease-fire there is necessary to halt hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

U.S. officials, including President Biden’s senior adviser Amos Hochstein, have been actively working to deescalate the situation through diplomatic channels, warning of the broader regional implications, including a possible Iranian response if Hezbollah is significantly threatened.
