‘Landman’ Renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+

Paramount+ Renews “Landman” for Season 2

Exciting news for fans of the hit series “Landman” as Paramount+ has officially renewed the show for a second season, as reported by Variety. The Taylor Sheridan creation, starring the talented Billy Bob Thornton and set in the world of the West Texas oil fields, made its debut on Paramount+ last November, with the Season 1 finale airing in January.

The show garnered a positive reception from audiences and critics alike upon its release. Nielsen streaming data revealed that “Landman” ranked No. 8 on the top 10 chart for all SVOD originals in Q4 2024. Additionally, Paramount confirmed that the series had the most watched global premiere and finale of any show in the history of Paramount+. Thornton’s outstanding performance even earned him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama series.

Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, praised the success of “Landman,” attributing it to Taylor Sheridan’s ability to capture the cultural zeitgeist through themes of ambition, rugged individualism, and working-class struggles in the context of contemporary debates on energy, climate change, and economic growth. The show’s popularity has propelled Paramount+ to new heights, solidifying its position as the #2 SVOD in the US for Original Hours Watched in Q4.

The ensemble cast for Season 1, alongside Thornton, included Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.

“Landman” is based on the “Boomtown” podcast from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, offering an intriguing narrative of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires shaping a monumental boom that impacts climate, economy, and geopolitics.

Co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, the series boasts a stellar lineup of executive producers, including David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, Stephen Kay, Dan Friedkin, Jason Hoch, J.K. Nickell, and Megan Creydt. Tommy Turtle serves as co-executive producer, with production handled by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
