Adjoa Andoh, Evangeline Lilly Set for Tributes at New Italian TV Fest

A brand-new and highly anticipated event dedicated to global TV series is set to make its debut in Italy, featuring prominent figures such as Adjoa Andoh from “Bridgerton,” Evangeline Lilly from “Lost,” and Italy’s very own ‘Godfather of Disco’ Giorgio Moroder, who will be honored with career awards. Additionally, Italian comic actor and director Carlo Verdone and actress Elena Sofia Ricci, known for her role in the acclaimed drama “La farfalla impazzita,” will also be recognized at the inaugural Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF).
The IGSF is being hailed as a revival of the Roma Fiction Festival, which previously took place in Rome from 2006 to 2016. The new event will be held in the picturesque seaside towns of Riccione and Rimini from June 21 to 28, adding another exciting addition to Italy’s busy June calendar, which already includes the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily and Filming Italy Sardegna.
Renowned Italian journalist Marco Spagnoli, deputy director of Rome’s MIA Market, has been appointed as the artistic director of IGSF. The festival is organized by Italy’s TV producers’ association APA in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE).
The inaugural edition of IGSF will feature both international and Italian competition sections, showcasing first-look screenings, keynotes, and engaging discussions moderated by industry experts such as Piera Detassis, president of the David di Donatello Awards, and Laura Delli Colli, head of Italy’s film journalists’ union.
Esteemed jury members for IGSF include acclaimed directors such as Bille August, Cristina Comencini, and Paolo Genovese, who will bring their expertise to the selection process. The full program for the festival will be revealed in early May, promising a dynamic and diverse lineup of events and screenings for attendees to enjoy.
Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting lineup and activities planned for the Italian Global Series Festival, as it promises to be a must-attend event for TV enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
