Missing Pitt student’s Sudiskha Konanki person of interest Joshua Riibe has passport confiscated in Dominican Republic

The disappearance of University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki has sparked a massive search effort, with new developments emerging in the investigation. The last person to see Konanki before she vanished, Joshua Riibe, had his passport seized by authorities in the Dominican Republic.
According to reports, Riibe’s passport was confiscated almost 10 days after Konanki was last seen with him on the beach near their RIU Hotel & Resort on March 6. Riibe, a 22-year-old Minnesota college senior, has been cooperating with authorities and is now under police escort at the hotel.
Riibe is believed to be the last person to see Konanki before she disappeared. The two had ventured into the water during an overnight escapade, which included cuddling and kissing before they encountered rough waters. Riibe shared details of their beach outing with authorities, stating that they were swept out to sea by a big wave.
After struggling to resurface, Riibe claimed to have saved Konanki by pulling her back closer to shore. However, he later passed out on the beach due to ingesting saltwater. When he woke up hours later and returned to his room, Konanki was reported missing by the friends she had traveled with.
Clothing believed to belong to Konanki was later discovered around a set of beach chairs at the resort. A white netted sarong and a pair of beige flip-flops, similar to what Konanki was last seen wearing in surveillance footage, were found untouched. Police have not filed any charges in the case, and the search for Konanki continues.
The investigation into Konanki’s disappearance remains ongoing, with authorities and Riibe’s cooperation being key factors in the search efforts. The circumstances surrounding her vanishing are still unclear, but the authorities are determined to find answers and bring closure to this troubling case.
