‘Heinous’ sicko left cats’ heads on homeowner’s mailbox: police

An accused stalker has been apprehended after the gruesome discovery of two decapitated cats’ heads left on a Florida homeowner’s mailbox, as reported by law enforcement officials.

The investigation into what Sheriff Carmine Marceno described as “heinous violent acts” against “innocent animals” commenced when a resident in Bonita Springs stumbled upon the heads inside a cardboard box placed atop their mailbox. The motive behind the targeting of this particular homeowner and the ownership of the cats remains unclear.

However, the authorities identified Robert James Luther III, 37, as a suspect who was present in the vicinity during the incident. Luther was taken into custody while fishing nearby, and subsequent search warrants led to the discovery of disturbing cell phone videos in which he allegedly referenced and depicted the deceased cats.

Luther III has been charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty and two counts of aggravated stalking in connection to the incident. The reasoning behind this abhorrent crime and any potential connection between Luther and the homeowner are yet to be determined.

Sheriff’s deputies shared footage showing the box where the cats’ heads were placed, emphasizing the severity of the offense. Luther invoked his rights and opted not to cooperate with law enforcement during questioning.

Sheriff Marceno condemned the violent acts, emphasizing that such behavior is intolerable, especially when directed towards innocent animals. He assured that the perpetrator would face severe consequences in accordance with the law and praised the collaborative efforts of various units that led to Luther’s arrest.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information about the incident. As Luther remains uncooperative, further details are being sought to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this disturbing case.
