The latest episode of “The Masked Singer” Season 13, titled “Grand Ole Opry Night,” aired on March 19 on Fox, and it did not disappoint. Spoiler alert: James Van Der Beek, known for his role in “Dawson’s Creek,” was unmasked as Griffin during this episode.
Van Der Beek’s performance of John Denver’s “Take Me Home (Country Roads)” was heartfelt and emotional. He opened up about his recent colorectal cancer diagnosis, sharing how his family has been his rock through this challenging time. The audience was moved by his vulnerability and strength.

During the guessing game, guest panelist Casey Wilson correctly identified Van Der Beek as Griffin. Other panelists had guesses ranging from Kyle Chandler to Josh Hartnett. Van Der Beek had previously performed songs like “Rewrite the Stars” and “Disturbia” on the show.
In the Group B finals, Pearl secured a spot in the “Lucky Six,” leaving Griffin and Boogie Woogie to battle it out. Ultimately, Boogie Woogie emerged victorious, sending Griffin home.
With Van Der Beek’s unmasking, he joins the ranks of other celebrities revealed this season, including Flavor Flav, Sheana Shay, Aubrey O’Day, Oscar de la Hoya, and Cedric the Entertainer.
The episode also introduced a new mysterious character, “Detective Lucky Duck,” who provided clues about the contestants. The themed episodes for this season include tributes to franchises like “Shrek” and “Ghostbusters,” as well as the Grand Ole Opry, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The performances on “Grand Ole Opry Night” included Pearl singing “Here You Come Again” by Dolly Parton, Griffin performing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, and Boogie Woogie belting out “Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood.
