Colorado State’s dominant March Madness win was 12 years in the making

The Colorado State men’s basketball team pulled off an impressive upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, defeating Memphis with a strong second-half performance. Despite being a No. 12 seed, the Rams were favored to win due to their 10-game winning streak and Memphis missing key players due to injuries.

Leading the charge for Colorado State was guard Kyan Evans, who scored 23 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers. His sharp shooting helped the Rams take control of the game in the second half and secure the victory.

Head coach Niko Medved praised Evans’ performance, expressing admiration for his shooting prowess. The win marked Colorado State’s first NCAA Tournament victory since 2013, a significant achievement for the program.

On the other side, Memphis struggled to find its rhythm, with star player PJ Haggerty having an off night shooting. The AAC player of the year finished with 18 points on 7-of-23 shooting, unable to carry his team to victory.

Looking ahead, Colorado State will face the winner of the matchup between No. 4 Maryland and No. 13 Grand Canyon. The Rams will aim to continue their impressive run in the tournament and advance to the next round.
