Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is set to speak on Friday at the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing conference in Arlington, Virginia. This appearance, which includes prepared remarks and a Q-and-A session, comes at a critical time when market uncertainty is high due to President Donald Trump’s aggressive tariffs against U.S. trading partners.
In March, the Federal Reserve voted to maintain its benchmark interest rate, citing concerns over trade policy. Other Fed officials have recently voiced support for maintaining this holding pattern until policy issues become clearer, despite market expectations of four or five rate cuts this year.
