NATO chief reaffirms support for Ukraine during visit to Odesa

ODESA, Ukraine — ODESA, Ukraine (AP) — NATO’s commitment to supporting Ukraine remains steadfast, with over 20 billion euros in security aid pledged by NATO allies in the first quarter of 2025.

During his visit to Ukraine on Tuesday, Mark Rutte met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the city of Odesa, emphasizing the need for peace and security in the region.

Following a recent attack in Sumy that resulted in civilian casualties, NATO and Ukraine are engaged in ceasefire negotiations led by President Trump, aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.

As discussions continue on a ceasefire deal, Ukraine and its European partners are working on establishing a “coalition of the willing” to ensure long-term security and deter future aggression.

Turkey’s role in providing security guarantees for Ukraine in the Black Sea region is being explored, with military representatives from several countries discussing potential security arrangements.

Negotiations with the U.S. on access to Ukraine’s mineral resources are ongoing, with both sides optimistic about reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.
