Is Zoom down? Users report problems with the video conferencing app.

Zoom Experiences Widespread Outage, Impacting Thousands of Users

On Wednesday, the popular video communications service Zoom faced a major outage, affecting tens of thousands of users, as reported by Downdetector, a website tracker.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. EST, around 68,000 users encountered issues while using the videoconferencing tool. The majority of Zoom customers reported difficulties with the web application, while others also faced challenges with the mobile app.

Complaints from users indicated that the outage was widespread across the U.S., causing disruptions in virtual meetings and communication.

Earlier in the day, another tech outage occurred, with numerous Spotify users experiencing difficulties accessing their music streaming accounts.

Despite the widespread impact of the outage, Zoom did not provide an immediate response to inquiries from CBS MoneyWatch.

Zoom’s Growth and Impact

With approximately 300 million users participating in Zoom meetings daily, the platform has become a crucial tool for remote communication and collaboration. Its popularity surged during the pandemic when in-person meetings were restricted, leading to a significant increase in revenue.

However, as the initial surge in demand subsided, Zoom’s growth rate has slowed down, reflecting the evolving landscape of virtual communication platforms.
