‘Vladimir, STOP!’ Trump says to Putin after deadliest Russian strike on Kyiv in months

The recent Russian attack on several districts and residential areas in Kyiv has left at least 12 people dead and dozens more injured, according to Ukrainian officials. President Donald Trump took to social media to address Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to “STOP!” the attacks. Trump expressed his displeasure with the strikes, calling them unnecessary and poorly timed, especially with the high number of casualties among soldiers.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, currently on a visit to South Africa, announced that he would cut short his trip and return to Ukraine earlier than planned. He emphasized the importance of global awareness of the situation, revealing that nearly 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and about 150 attack drones were used in the attack.
The attack occurred amidst ongoing negotiations to end the conflict, with White House officials pushing for Ukraine to consider a potential peace plan that may involve ceding land to Russia. Trump accused Zelenskyy of prolonging the conflict, referring to it as a “killing field.”
Reports indicate that at least 80 people were injured in the attacks, with six children among the victims. The Ukrainian emergency services are working tirelessly to rescue survivors trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed the extensive nature of the Russian attack, involving cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic weapons targeting peaceful cities and homes in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov defended the strikes, stating that the military was following orders to target military and near-military sites.
Rescue operations are ongoing in Kyiv, with first responders searching for survivors amidst the debris. The Ministry of Defense condemned the attacks, emphasizing that Russia’s actions demonstrate a lack of interest in peace.
In addition to Kyiv, other regions such as Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia were also targeted by Russian forces. European Union representative Kaja Kallas criticized Russia for its deadly airstrike on Kyiv, stating that Russia’s war aims remain unchanged.
The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with ongoing violence and casualties as a result of the Russian invasion. The international community continues to monitor the developments closely, with efforts to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
