Cops probing threats, harassment against 2 women during protest outside NYC synagogue after vile video circulates online

The recent incidents of threats and harassment against two women during a protest outside a prominent synagogue in Brooklyn have sparked outrage and a police investigation. The disturbing video of the women being chased and surrounded by a group of men has raised concerns about safety and security during protests.

The clash between anti-Israel protesters and Hasidic Jewish men in Crown Heights escalated during a visit by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to the synagogue. Mayor Eric Adams condemned the violence and vowed to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

One of the women, a protester, was injured and harassed by counter-protesters, while the other woman, who was not part of the protest, was surrounded and subjected to threats by a mob of men. The video footage shows the terrifying ordeal as the men shouted insults and physically intimidated the women.

The second woman, who was mistaken for an anti-Israel protester, described the harrowing experience of being encircled by a group of men who threatened her and shouted hateful remarks. Despite seeking help from the police, she felt abandoned and frightened by the mob’s behavior.

Several men have been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents, with more summonses issued to others involved. The mayor emphasized that hate has no place in the city and promised to ensure that the perpetrators face consequences for their actions.

The Chabad-Lubavitch community condemned the violence and hateful rhetoric displayed during the protest, emphasizing that such behavior is contrary to the values of their faith. The neighborhood where the synagogue is located has a history of antisemitic violence, making the incidents even more alarming.

As the investigation continues and efforts are made to address the underlying issues that led to the confrontations, it is crucial to prioritize safety and respect for all individuals during protests and demonstrations. The incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding the principles of peaceful expression and mutual understanding in a diverse and inclusive city like New York.
