‘Diarra From Detroit’ Renewed for Season 2 at BET+

BET+’s Hit Series “Diarra From Detroit” Renewed for Season 2

BET+ has officially announced the return of the critically acclaimed series “Diarra From Detroit” for a highly anticipated Season 2. The dramatic comedy, produced by BET Studios, will once again feature the talented creator, executive producer, writer, and star Diarra Kilpatrick, along with series regulars Bryan Terrell Clark, DomiNque Perry, and Jon Chaffin.

After a successful linear run on BET earlier this year, “Diarra From Detroit” emerged as the top new series on cable among Black viewers in 2025. The show dominated key demos such as Black adults 18-49, 25-54, and total Black viewers 2+. It currently holds the second spot for scripted series with Black audiences 18-49 & 25-54, trailing behind BET’s “Tyler Perry’s Sistas.”

Aisha Summers Burke, BET Studios’ exec VP and GM, expressed excitement about the show’s renewal, stating, “Diarra’s voice is bold, original, and unapologetically real—exactly the kind of storytelling that resonates deeply with our audience. This next chapter raises the stakes while keeping the same sharp wit and heart that made the series a standout.”

“Variety” described the series as “refreshing, captivating, and unapologetically Black,” earning it two Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations, as well as nods from the NAACP Image Awards and GLAAD Media Awards. Kilpatrick herself received a Gracie Award for actress in a breakthrough role (drama).

Kilpatrick expressed her excitement for the upcoming season, saying, “We’re excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity to take viewers on another very wild, very Detroit adventure.”

Produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, the show is executive produced by Diarra Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and Miles Orion Feldsott. Barris shared his enthusiasm for the show’s return, stating, “Last season proved just how wildly talented Diarra Kilpatrick is and I, for one, can’t wait for everyone to see what her and the team have in store this time around.”
