Not Satire: Fired CNN Host Brian Stelter Picked Up By Harvard

[ad_1]

Brian Stelter, the recently ousted former host at CNN, has found himself a new gig – He’s been named a Harvard Kennedy School’s Walter Shorenstein Media and Democracy Fellow.

Stelter will, and this is not a joke, discuss “threats to democracy” with students and faculty alike and how the media can address those threats.

“As the Walter Shorenstein Fellow, Stelter will convene a series of discussions about threats to democracy and the range of potential responses from the news media,” a statement from the once-proud institution reads.

“These discussions with media leaders, policymakers, politicians, and Kennedy School students, fellows, and faculty will help deepen public and scholarly understanding about the current state of the information ecosystem and its impacts on democratic governance.”

Brian Stelter – Harvard Fellow

It’s odd to think that, prior to the Brian Stelter handout, the previous low point for Harvard was when they accepted David Hogg into the fold a few years ago.

And yet, they’ve sunk even lower, it seems.

Stelter, though it isn’t mentioned in Harvard’s glowing statement, was canned by CNN’s new CEO Chris Licht less than a month ago because the network is reportedly trying to shift away from hardcore biased anchors.

And just how is Brian Stelter supposed to speak to Harvard students and scholars about “threats to democracy” and the media?

Remember – It was Stelter who helped cover up the Hunter Biden laptop scandal at CNN just before the 2020 presidential election, saying “for all we know, these emails were made up” and “this is a classic example of the right-wing media machine.”

CNN, nearly 21 months after the presidential election, finally decided to have a “cyber forensics expert” dive into emails found on Hunter Biden’s laptop and confirm their authenticity. They essentially sat on it to sway the election. And Stelter helped suppress the story.

There’s your threat to democracy, Harvard. Perhaps they’re taking Stelter in the way a police department uses a former jewel thief to provide insight on how to catch another jewel thief?

Harvard Has Sunk to a New Low

Let’s take a look at what Harvard adds to their bullpen of Fellows by taking in Brian Stelter. First, this is a man who once aired a bit showing himself wearing no pants.

Let’s hope students aren’t subjected to that threat to democracy.

Stelter became something of a punching bag for Joe Rogan over the years.

He’s clearly outmatched in a debate with other college students, so I’m not sure he can maintain a level of discourse with them.

Then, of course, there is the time Joe Rogan pointed out Stelter’s alleged credentials that Harvard hopes he’ll actually maintain.

“Hey motherf***er, you’re supposed to be a journalist,” should be every student’s comeback every time Stelter speaks.

Former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio also got himself a Harvard fellowship.

They’re passing out fellowships at Harvard the way Oprah hands audience members new cars.
