Alleged MS-13 gangbanger Kilmar Abrego Garcia suspected of human trafficking, feds say
The Department of Homeland Security suspected that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member who was deported to El Salvador in error, was involved in human and labor trafficking in 2022, as per an internal memo obtained by The Post.
According to the DHS intelligence report, Abrego Garcia was stopped by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on December 1, 2022, for speeding. During the stop, officers discovered eight individuals in the car with Abrego Garcia, who claimed he had driven from Houston, Texas, to Temple Hills, Maryland, to bring people in for construction work.
The officer at the scene suspected a potential human trafficking incident when no luggage was found in the car. Additionally, Abrego Garcia attempted to evade questions by feigning limited English proficiency and responding with questions.
Despite the suspicious circumstances, Abrego Garcia was only cited for driving with an expired license and allowed to leave by the officers.
Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed that Abrego Garcia is not only an MS-13 gang member and an illegal alien but also a suspected human trafficker. She highlighted the concerning details of the incident, including the lack of luggage for a multi-day journey and Abrego Garcia’s questionable behavior during the traffic stop.
McLaughlin criticized the media’s portrayal of Abrego Garcia, emphasizing the need to focus on the victims of criminal gang members rather than sympathizing with their false narratives.
