‘Another opportunity’: Shedeur Sanders reacts to going undrafted after round 3 of NFL draft

Shedeur Sanders, once considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, has experienced a surprising slide as the draft enters its fourth round. Despite high expectations, Sanders has yet to hear his name called by any team.

After being passed over in the first round on Thursday night, Sanders continued to wait through Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday as teams in need of quarterbacks opted for other players. Despite the disappointment, Sanders remained optimistic, taking to social media to express gratitude for the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion for the game.

Despite being passed over by teams like the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, and Cleveland Browns, Sanders remains determined to showcase his skills and prove his worth in the league. As other quarterbacks were selected ahead of him in the first two days of the draft, Sanders remained focused on his goal of making it to the NFL.

One of the quarterbacks selected ahead of Sanders was Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, who was picked up by the New York Giants after a trade-up move on Thursday. On Friday, other quarterbacks like Louisville’s Tyler Shough, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel were also chosen by teams in need of talent at the position.

Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward were widely regarded as the top two passing prospects in the draft, with some analysts even ranking Sanders higher than Ward. Ward was ultimately selected as the first overall pick by the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night, leaving Sanders still waiting for his chance to shine.

As the 2025 NFL Draft continues into its second day, Sanders remains hopeful that a team will recognize his potential and give him the opportunity to showcase his skills on the field. The draft is set to resume at noon ET, giving Sanders another chance to fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.
