Attorney general to Jasmine Crockett: ‘Tread very carefully’ with your Musk critique

Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) in response to her recent comments advocating for Elon Musk to be “taken down.” Bondi cautioned the lawmaker to “tread very carefully” as an elected public official, emphasizing that Musk would be protected and all Tesla owners would be defended.

Crockett had expressed support for The Tesla Takedown movement, which is actively protesting against Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to streamline the federal bureaucracy through boycotts and demonstrations at Tesla properties. The coalition is organizing 500 demonstrations nationwide on March 29, with Crockett stating her birthday wish for Musk to be taken down.

During her remarks at the virtual rally, Crockett emphasized the importance of speaking the language of those in power, noting that financial impact is a significant motivator for change. She clarified that her calls for action were nonviolent, despite the ongoing protests and occasional instances of vandalism directed at Tesla locations.

The Department of Justice’s recent announcement of charges against three individuals for allegedly vandalizing Tesla cars and properties was referenced by Bondi as she denounced such actions as “domestic terrorism.” She reiterated her commitment to pursuing charges against those involved in the protests, emphasizing that all avenues would be explored to address any potential organized efforts.

Bondi’s warning to Crockett underscores the escalating tensions surrounding the protests and highlights the government’s determination to maintain order and protect businesses like Tesla. The ongoing dialogue between lawmakers, activists, and law enforcement reflects the complex dynamics at play in the intersection of politics, activism, and corporate influence.
