Billy Porter, the renowned actor from the TV show “Pose”, opened up about the challenges he and numerous fellow actors are confronting amid the continuing strikes in Hollywood.

In an intimate chat with the Evening Standard, Porter revealed that several of his impending projects have been delayed due to the ongoing protests by writers and actors. The strikes have subsequently imposed a financial strain on him.

“I’m contemplating selling my house,” shared Porter. “The uncertainty of returning to work and the precarious financial reality of most artists is daunting. I had anticipated working on a fresh film and initiating a new TV series this September, but those prospects are now clouded.”

Porter conveyed his exasperation toward an unnamed studio executive, noting, “For the executive implying that artists would be financially cornered into selling their homes due to the strikes – I’ve already reached that point.”

Adding to the industry tension, Disney’s Bob Iger recently expressed his concerns about the strikes, labeling them as “deeply unsettling” with potential to severely harm the industry. Iger commented on the need for realism about the business’s constraints during his recent CNBC interview. While he acknowledged the artists’ quest for rightful compensation, he cautioned that the strikes might trigger significant unintended consequences.

Responding to Iger’s remarks, a visibly agitated Porter retorted, “Hearing Bob Iger dismiss our plea for a fair wage as unrealistic is truly infuriating. I’ve restrained from commenting as the entire situation deeply angers me. While I’m currently in London, I am resolved to actively join the protests once I return.”
