Black Owned Sweet Kiwi inspired by black women and fibriods
She had not initially intended to become a Black woman in the food industry, yet a battle with a health issue ultimately resulted in something positive. Ehime Eigbe, the founder of Sweetkiwi, was inspired to create delicious and nutritious frozen yogurts to help the body get the nutrients it needs after her tough battle with fibroids.
Sharing the details of her successful health food brand, which bridges the gap between functional nutrition and great taste, with BLACK ENTERPRISE, Eigbe recounted her health journey.
After consulting with the doctor, Eigbe, who had been diagnosed with a noncancerous growth in the uterus known as a uterine fibroid, shared that she was presented with multiple options, such as surgery and hormone therapy, which she wasn’t too comfortable with.
She states that through her research, she discovered that food could be an effective way to alter a diagnosis. Armed with knowledge of the importance of nutrition for cell regeneration, I chose to alter my dietary habits and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Eigbe’s inspiration to enter the food industry stemmed from her creation of an amazing and healthy frozen dessert.
At Penn State, I acquired the skills to make ice cream and cultured dairies, as well as taking courses to ready myself for entrepreneurship in the food industry.
Eigbe shared that their mission is to revolutionize the way consumers experience food through creating delicious, nutrient-dense products that help the body to better absorb nutrients, all while fighting for safe, sustainable, and equitable food systems in the areas they are working in.
Sweetkiwi offers treats that are packed with protein, probiotics, fiber, and a unique combination of immunity-enhancing superfoods, while still being low in calories and nutrient-dense. Eigbe’s whipped Greek yogurt, with 22 to 25 grams of protein, probiotics to increase protein absorption, and prebiotic fiber to promote the growth of probiotics, comes in a pint.

The gut microbiome has a major influence on the immune system, which is primarily located in the gut. She explains that, as a result, Sweetkiwi was formulated with a holistic approach based on clinical research and made with carefully selected ingredients that work better together to support gut health, wellness, and nutrient absorption.
Getting rid of high fructose does not mean ignoring your craving for sweets.
Several diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and liver disorder, have been linked to high fructose in the diet.
Eigbe claims that Sweetkiwi Whipped Greek Yogurt is both low in sugar and delicious.
Leading ice cream brands contain more sugar and less protein and fiber than Eigbe’s products, which have no sugar alcohols and are 50% to 75% lower in sugar, but 50% to 75% higher in protein and fiber.
She says that their product, Sweetkiwi, is a delicious, rare golden kiwi that offers a sweetness combined with a tart taste, creating the perfect balance which was replicated using Greek yogurt. A delicious, well-balanced, and nutritious frozen dessert can be made by combining the high nutritional benefits of Greek yogurt with sweetness derived from other ingredients.
Eigbe is partnering with Black Girl Ventures, contributing her time and 1% of Sweetkiwi’s profits to help fund the non-profit’s initiatives and to support the entrepreneurs in their network.
Eigbe states that, as a Black founder who has been able to independently fund their business with the help of organizations created to bridge the equity divide for Black entrepreneurs, it was important to them to extend assistance to those who come after them, and make the journey for future Black Founders less difficult.
She adds, “Supporting Black entrepreneurs is a passion for me because when one of us succeeds, we all succeed.” ”
I provide guidance to Founders who are following in my footsteps, offering them my wisdom and experiences as well as offering them support and encouragement. It is my duty to pay it forward by pouring into others what was poured into me. ’
