The beauty industry draws inspiration from black women worldwide.
To commemorate Women’s History Month, SheaMoisture and Tina Knowles Lawson collaborated on a video series that honors Black women creators who have established their unique path and played a significant role in shaping the beauty standard.
Last week, SheaMoisture premiered a series on their Instagram page celebrating 11 creators as reported by Women’s Wear Daily. The series showcases featured women with narration from Knowles Lawson.

As she sits comfortably in an elegant black robe, staring at herself through a beautifully lit vanity mirror, the mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles declares confidently, “We are the epitome of beauty.” She takes a moment to fluff out her bouncy, highlighted curls, proud of her appearance.

“Our DNA is ingrained with ingenuity, evident in our pioneering self-made millionaires and today’s visionaries,” she remarks while the camera transitions to footage of Black women creators such as Deun Ivory, the Founder of Black Women are Worthy, and Olamide Olowe, CEO of Topicals.” The remaining Black creators were shown on camera after Knowles Lawson, who was wearing a black pantsuit with lace detailing, flaunted her outfit.

Devin and Athena, the stylist duo, have styled the elegant looks of Back visionaries including Zerina Akers, an award-winning stylist and costume designer, Anifa Mvuemba, the founder of Hanifa, and Darian Symone Harvin, a beauty editor.

According to Knowles Lawson, Black women have been breaking barriers and redefining the concept of beauty across generations.

The brand hinted at the release of its latest Blueprint grant program in the video as well.
We are dedicated to honoring the beauty and remarkable influence of Black women in both the beauty industry and culture overall. Excitingly, we have the privilege of recognizing several pioneers who are still pushing boundaries in their respective fields. In a statement, SheaMoisture’s Chief Marketing Officer, Taydra Mitchell Jackson, emphasized that the launch of their new campaign, Blueprint, is a testament to the fact that Black beauty has always been and continues to be a pivotal influence in shaping culture, not only in the present but throughout history.
