BlackRock Bitcoin ETF To Become World’s Largest, Bitcoin Price Surges Above $95,000
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has been making waves in the investment world, with Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor boldly predicting that it will become the world’s largest ETF within the next decade. Saylor made this prediction during the Bitcoin Standard Corporations Investor Day in New York, where he highlighted the impressive growth and momentum of IBIT.
Currently managing $54.2 billion in assets, IBIT has been on a rapid ascent, recently recording $1.16 billion in Bitcoin purchases over just three days. This surge in activity has caught the attention of industry experts, with Saylor confidently stating that IBIT will surpass the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), which currently holds approximately $573.5 billion in assets.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas acknowledged the possibility of IBIT becoming the largest ETF in the world, but emphasized the extraordinary circumstances required for such a feat. He noted that IBIT would need to start taking in more cash than VOO, which would mean receiving well over $1 billion per day, in order to gain ground on the current leader.
The growing interest in ETFs comes as Bitcoin’s price surpasses $95,000, fueled by various factors such as signals from President Trump on reducing Chinese import tariffs, new SEC Chairman Paul Atkins’ pro-crypto stance, and expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts in mid-2025. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have now accumulated over $37 billion in total net inflows since their January launch, with combined assets under management exceeding $100 billion.
IBIT’s success in the ETF space has not gone unnoticed, as it recently won the prestigious “Best New ETF” award at the etf.com awards. With Bitcoin maintaining strength above key psychological levels and institutional investment continuing to flow through regulated ETF vehicles, BlackRock’s aggressive accumulation strategy signals a growing confidence in the asset class.
Overall, the future looks bright for IBIT and the broader ETF market, as the landscape of investment opportunities continues to evolve in response to the changing financial environment. Investors will be watching closely to see if Saylor’s prediction of IBIT becoming the world’s largest ETF within 10 years will come to fruition.
