Breez Announces Launch Of New Wallet, Misty Breez

Breez has just launched Misty Breez, their newest application developed using the innovative Breez SDK. The Breez SDK was initially created to streamline the process of incorporating Lightning Network support into various consumer applications, and it has already been adopted by numerous projects and companies in the industry.

This SDK offers two methods of Lightning integration: Native and Nodeless. The Native method enables app developers to integrate a Lightning wallet or functionality using the Greenlight service provided by Blockstream. This service allows the wallet provider to host a cloud-based Lightning node for users while ensuring that the users retain full control over their private keys. On the other hand, the Nodeless method seamlessly integrates Liquid support with the Lightning Network, providing support for a wide range of features without the complexity of starting from scratch.

Misty Breez is built on the Nodeless SDK tooling, which means that users’ coins are self-custodied on the Liquid sidechain. This setup gives users complete control over their funds, although it does require some trust trade-offs associated with using the Liquid Network.

The Misty Breez wallet supports various features such as BOLT 11 and BOLT 12 invoices, LNURL-Pay, Lightning Addresses, on-chain BTC addresses, and even Matt Corrallo’s BIP 353, which uses DNS to fetch payment details for another user’s wallet. Additionally, the wallet supports offline payments based on mobile notifications within the phone’s operating system.

The Breez SDK aims to provide developers with the tools to create a seamless and user-specific experience with minimal effort. Misty Breez sets a benchmark for a simplified user experience that other developers can use as a reference for Lightning integration in their own applications or build upon Misty Breez itself. The application is 100% open source, allowing developers to integrate their desired functionality seamlessly.

For developers looking to explore the Nodeless configuration utilized by Misty Breez, documentation is available on the Breez SDK website. The Github repository for Misty Breez implementation is also accessible for those interested in exploring the code further. Early access releases for Misty Breez are available for Android and iOS users who want to test the application firsthand.

In conclusion, all the necessary tools for developers to create a new user experience are readily available. With Misty Breez leading the way in simplified Lightning integration, developers have the resources needed to enhance user experiences and drive innovation in the industry.
