Bryan Woo shuts down Boston, helps Mariners close road trip with 4-3 win over Red Sox

The Seattle Mariners secured a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox in a thrilling matchup on Thursday. Bryan Woo delivered a stellar performance on the mound, limiting the Red Sox to just three hits over six innings. The Mariners’ offense came out strong, scoring four runs in the first two innings off Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet.

Leo Rivas and J.P. Crawford led the offensive charge for the Mariners, each recording two hits in the game. Mitch Garver delivered a key hit in the first inning, driving in two runs with a double off the Green Monster. Seattle extended their lead in the second inning, loading the bases and scoring two more runs on a sacrifice fly and a groundout.

Despite a strong showing from Crochet, who struck out nine batters in five innings, the Red Sox fell short in their comeback attempt. Alex Bregman and Carlos Narváez each contributed with hits, including a solo homer from Bregman. Narváez’s solo shot in the eighth inning brought the Red Sox within one run of the Mariners.

In the final inning, Andrés Muñoz closed out the game for the Mariners, securing his ninth save of the season. Gabe Speier and Trent Thornton combined to shut down the Red Sox’s offense and preserve the Mariners’ lead. Rivas made a crucial catch in center field to seal the victory for Seattle.

Looking ahead, the Mariners will return home to face the Miami Marlins in a three-game series. Right-hander Logan Gilbert is set to take the mound for Seattle in the series opener. Meanwhile, the Red Sox will travel to Cleveland for a three-game series against the Guardians, with Tanner Houck scheduled to start for Boston.

Overall, the Mariners’ strong pitching and timely hitting propelled them to a series win over the Red Sox. The team will look to build on their recent success as they continue their push for a playoff spot in the competitive American League.
