Coco Gauff Clinches Title of Highest-Paid Female Athlete in 2023
Coco Gauff has officially secured her place as the highest-paid female athlete globally at the age of 19, amassing an impressive $23 million in earnings from both prize money and endorsements throughout 2023.
This accomplishment crowns a prosperous year for Gauff, marked by victories on the tennis court and lucrative partnerships. Gauff earned $3 million by clinching her first Grand Slam title at the US Open, making her the first American teenager to achieve this feat since Serena Williams in 1999. Her on-court earnings for the year totaled $6.7 million.
Gauff’s success on the tennis court translated into lucrative partnerships with renowned companies, including Baker Tilly, UPS, Bose, and Rolex. Additionally, she engaged in campaigns for Ray-Ban Meta glasses and made a guest appearance in the movie ‘The Marvels.’ These endorsement deals contributed significantly to her $16 million endorsement pay.
The tennis prodigy has a history of securing profitable contracts with corporate sponsors. By the age of fifteen, Gauff had already inked deals with Head, Barilla, and New Balance. In 2022, she signed a five-year extension with New Balance, solidifying her status as one of the wealthiest female athletes.
In a unique distinction, New Balance introduced a signature shoe for Gauff in 2022, making her the sole active player with a signature tennis sneaker across all brands. Gauff’s impressive career includes six WTA Tour singles titles, eight doubles titles, and her current rankings at Number 3 in both tournaments.
Notably, Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles also rank among the top 15 highest-paid female athletes of 2023, highlighting the continued success and financial prowess of these accomplished athletes.
