Costco has big changes planned for its food courts — here’s what is coming

Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo may have stayed the same price for decades, but the warehouse retailer’s food court menu is getting some exciting updates.
The Washington State-based company has recently announced some changes that have been made to its food courts or are planned for this year.
Here are some of the recent or upcoming changes that Costco has revealed for its food courts:
Strawberry banana smoothie
CFO Gary Millerchip mentioned during Costco’s second-quarter earnings call in March that they have introduced a new strawberry banana smoothie. According to a Facebook post from Costco, it became available at the beginning of that month.
Turkey provolone sandwich
Costco is bringing back the fan-favorite turkey provolone sandwich in the third quarter. Millerchip also informed analysts and investors that this hot dish, which had been off the menu for several years, will be making a comeback.
Coca-Cola products
CEO Ron Vachris revealed during Costco’s January shareholders meeting that they plan on transitioning their food court fountain business back to Coca-Cola this summer. This switch from Pepsi products, which Costco has been offering since 2013, marks a significant change for Costco food courts.

In the second quarter, Costco’s food courts and pharmacy were highlighted as leading the way for its ancillary businesses, according to Millerchip.
Other ancillary businesses of Costco include its gas stations, optical department, hearing aids, and tire installation.
Costco has emphasized that its food courts and other ancillary businesses play a key role in encouraging members to visit the warehouse retailer more frequently.
On a global scale, Costco’s food courts reported sales of 229 million hot dog and soda combos in fiscal 2024, as mentioned by Vachris during the shareholders’ meeting.
With the opening of a new location in Sharon, Massachusetts, in early March, Costco’s warehouse count reached 900 globally and 620 domestically.
At the end of the second quarter, the company reported an impressive 140.6 million Costco membership cardholders.
