DHL Express to suspend global shipments over $800 to US consumers

The Impact of New U.S. Customs Regulations on DHL Express Shipments
Amidst new U.S. customs regulations, DHL Express, a multinational logistics company based in Germany, has announced the suspension of global shipments worth more than $800 to American consumers, including those from Hong Kong. This decision comes in response to changes requiring formal entry processing on all shipments exceeding $800, a significant shift from the previous threshold of $2,500 set before April 5.
While business-to-business shipments will continue with potential delays, shipments valued below $800 to both businesses and consumers remain unaffected by the regulatory updates. DHL emphasized that the suspension is a temporary measure and aims to comply with the evolving customs rules.
Despite these changes, DHL reassured customers about its commitment to processing shipments from Hong Kong to the U.S. in accordance with customs regulations. The company is working closely with customers to facilitate a smooth transition to the new rules set to take effect on May 2.
Additionally, the Hongkong Post recently halted sea mail services to the U.S. in response to the American government’s cancellation of tariff-free trade provisions for packages from China and Hong Kong, citing concerns of unfair treatment as trade tensions escalate between the U.S. and China.
As trade concerns persist, DHL is among the companies adjusting their shipping services to adapt to the evolving landscape, particularly amidst the escalating trade war between the U.S. and China.
