El Paso declares state of emergency as migrants flood in through sewers
It’s even worse than we thought it would be.
After conferring with federal officials about the thousands of illegal aliens who are in El Paso, waiting to be released into the United States, El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency.
As the shelters are overflowing, thousands of people are forced to sleep in the streets. Or sleeping in the gutter.
”After speaking with our federal partners, it seems that the number of cases will rise to 4-, 5- or 6,000 by Wednesday. I asked if they thought they could handle the influx and the answer was no. “When I heard the answer was no, I knew we had to do something right away,” Leeser said.
They can’t handle it. The Biden administration has known since the summer that the Title 42 program was going to end. They have known since May 1st that they were facing an unprecedented crisis, with up to 18,000 illegal aliens a day showing up at the border.
“Don’t worry,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told America back in May. “We’re on it.”
“We’ve been preparing and planning for months, knowing that the CDC’s Title 42 authority won’t last forever,” Mayorkas said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
It turns out that was a lie.
There is more than one crossing point for illegals in Texas, with El Paso being just one example. In that state alone, there are 28 main border crossings. If 6,000 illegals are arriving every day in El Paso, 18,000 illegals a day along the entire southern border is an optimistic number.
The city states that the declaration will allow staff to request additional resources and support from the state, which can include personnel, shelter, and transportation.
To protect the health, safety and welfare of migrants, staff will also set up an Emergency Operations Center and implement emergency management plans.
OEM has been sending out roving teams to assist the migrants that CBP are releasing in the Downtown area. The teams are focused on helping people arrange for transportation and offering them shelter to get them out of the cold temperatures.
On Saturday, Mr. D’Agostino said that the state is set to deploy additional law-enforcement assistance and buses to help shuttle migrants out of El Paso to other cities around the region that might have more transportation options.
Since Dec. 1, more than 36,000 migrants, many of them Nicaraguan asylum seekers, have been taken into custody in El Paso, and roughly 20,000 people have been released into the community.
There’s no room at the inn for these folks. Soon, all of these people will become another city’s problem.
Biden promised the American people “an orderly, secure, and well-managed border while treating people fairly and humanely.” However, what is taking place is far from orderly and well-managed. Secretary Mayorkas should be impeached if he does not resign immediately. If he doesn’t shape up, his incompetence is going to get a lot of people killed.
That will be on Joe Biden and his team.
