Employee shot at KFC by customer when told there was no more corn
A customer shot and hospitalized a KFC employee. The St. Louis customer was allegedly upset that the restaurant had run out of corn, according to ABC News.
According to KMOV, the shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday. When employees informed the suspect that the location had run out of corn, the suspect, a man in his 40s or 50s, was waiting in the drive-through line.
As reported by police, the man began making threats toward the employees through the speaker box. He drove up to the drive-through window and brandished a gun.
A 25-year-old male employee responded, stepping outside, according to news sources. The employee was shot in the abdomen and taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
The suspect then left the scene.
KMOV interviewed pedestrians who frequently catch a bus near the KFC location, Kelly Pound and Renee Brandao.
Although Brandao wasn’t surprised to hear about the shooting, he still says it’s upsetting.
“They are just there for the paycheck. They’re not even running the business? What happens is not their fault. Someone is threatening them even though all they’re trying to do is get through their day.”
A resident in the area named Lindsey Fafoglia was also interviewed by the outlet. She says that the shooting was shocking to her.
When will enough be enough with all the crime and violence? Every year, it seems like more things are happening. I just want the city to be as safe as possible, but of course, anyone wants their neighborhood to be safe.
The suspect involved in the shooting is still being searched for by authorities. No mention has been made of whether surveillance footage of the incident is available.
