FBI Agent Accused By Whistleblowers Of Shielding Hunter Biden Resigns, Escorted From Building: Report
An FBI agent recently named by whistleblowers as having suppressed negative information about Hunter Biden and his laptop and business dealings has reportedly left the bureau.
Timothy Thibault was named extensively in a letter, written by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland dated July 25th, as having actively interfered in investigations of the President’s son.
The New York Post reports that he was “forced out” and resigned from his position as FBI assistant special agent in charge last week. (NBC reports that he “had reached retirement age.”)
As is standard procedure for an agent leaving service with the FBI, Thibault was escorted from the building by what the Post’s sources describe as “headquarters-looking types” last Friday.
He had been on leave since around the time Grassley made allegations against him in the letter to Wray and Garland.
#BREAKING: Timothy Thibault OUT at the FBI.
Reminder, according to a whistleblower, Thibault shut down investigative activity related to Hunter Biden and also sought to pad the FBI’s number of “domestic violent extremism” cases. https://t.co/KLsE5cTN6W

Timothy Thibault had originally appeared on Grassley’s radar back in May due to what the Senator referred to as “a pattern of active public partisanship in his then public social media content.”
Examples of such behavior cited by Grassley included liking a Washington Post opinion column alleging the Justice Department under former President Trump was “worse than we feared” and another which alleged then-Attorney General William Barr had “gone rogue.”
Thibault’s Twitter account also allegedly shared a Lincoln Project tweet that suggested Trump was “a psychologically broken, embittered, and deeply unhappy man.”
Several other examples of social media partisanship running afoul of the FBI’s “ethical obligations” were referenced by Grassley at the time.

Ordered Investigations Closed
In the July letter to Wray and Garland, Senator Grassley made allegations based on correspondence from “highly credible whistleblowers” that outline a concerted effort by Timothy Thibault to actively shut down criminal investigations of Hunter Biden.
In October of 2020, for instance, Grassley contends that “an avenue of derogatory Hunter Biden reporting was ordered closed at the direction of” Thibault.
His report states that the FBI field office tried to downplay information on Biden’s activity as “disinformation” even though “all of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants.”
Thibault, according to the letter, “subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future.”
This deserves at least as much attention as the one-sided Jan 6 hearing:

Grassley’s whistleblower allegations are not limited to Thibault as he asserts there was “a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”
Just prior to the 2020 presidential election, over 50 intelligence officials published a letter warning the public that the since verified laptop story had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
It didn’t. In fact, there was little evidence out there that would have led anyone to doubt the Biden laptop story.

The FBI was also outed last week by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg as having “warned” Facebook about “Russian disinformation” stories.
Zuckerberg pointed out that a visit from the “legitimate institution” prompted him to take their warning “seriously” and subsequently admitted during a podcast with host Joe Rogan last week that Facebook had algorithmically throttled the reach on any posts involving the Hunter laptop scandal.
“The FBI, I think, basically came to us – some folks on our team – and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert… We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election,” Zuckerberg told Rogan.
“‘We have it on notice that, basically, there’s about to be some kind of dump of that’s similar to that. So just be vigilant,’” he added.

Multiple major newspapers and outlets who previously reported dutifully on the laptop being misinformation would eventually confirm its existence – but not for well over a year.
The New York Times reported on emails examined by prosecutors which purportedly revealed information about “foreign business activity” including the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, on whose board Hunter served.
CNN eventually noted that an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden had now reached a “critical juncture.”
The investigation, the network indicated, seems to have pivoted to alleged tax violations and “making a false statement in connection with Biden’s purchase of a firearm.”
Biden had previously confirmed he was being investigated over his “tax affairs.”
And yet, as Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) pointed out, the FBI had the laptop in December of 2019 “and did nothing with it.”
And the media, like an obedient puppy looking for a cookie, reported what the FBI was selling nearly verbatim.

Timothy Thibault’s resignation does not indicate guilt in regards to the accusations and the FBI remains unwilling to comment on the matter.
But it registers as yet another sign that there is something there as the FBI continues to come under the microscope.
There is a significant pattern established here by Grassley and a timeline of the bureau’s actions.
