Florida teacher Karly Anderson placed on leave after attending wild bash where 200 students were underage drinking

A Florida elementary school teacher has been placed on leave after disturbing footage from a wild house party surfaced, showing her involvement in the chaotic event. Karly Anderson, 45, was arrested following a January party at the home of Roosevelt Elementary School principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, where approximately 200 underage students were seen getting heavily intoxicated.

In the newly released bodycam footage, an allegedly intoxicated Anderson is seen arguing with Cocoa Beach Police Department officers outside the house, where she identified herself as a teacher attending the inappropriate party. The video shows her cursing at the officers and expressing disbelief at the situation unfolding around her.

After the incident, Brevard County Public Schools decided to remove Anderson from the classroom, transferring her to Saturn Elementary School before placing her on leave. The school district expressed concern over her behavior at the party, describing it as “deplorable” and “disgusting.”

Despite the felony child abuse charges initially brought against Anderson, they were later reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication by prosecutors. This led to the school district claiming she was eligible to return to teaching, citing clearance from the State Attorney and the Department of Children and Family Services.

However, parents at Saturn Elementary were outraged by the decision, questioning the appropriateness of having Anderson teach their children given the circumstances of the party incident. One parent, Ashley Fernandez, expressed disbelief and frustration at the situation, calling it “ridiculous” and “uncalled for.”

Both Anderson and Hill-Brodigan are facing charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection to the house party. Reports indicated that the young attendees were allegedly under the influence of marijuana, visibly drunk, and involved in physical altercations during the event.

The superintendent of the school district, Mark Rendell, condemned Anderson’s actions captured in the footage, stating that they were unacceptable and warrant further investigation. The incident has raised concerns among the community about the safety and well-being of students under the care of educators involved in such behavior.
