Florida woman accused of vandalizing Tesla with chewing gum

A Florida woman found herself in hot water after allegedly vandalizing a Tesla with a “large wad” of chewing gum, causing nearly $3,000 in damages. Yamaris Marrero was charged with felony criminal mischief for the incident, which took place in the JC Penney parking lot at Aventura Mall in Miami-Dade County.

The sticky situation was captured on the car’s built-in cameras on March 22, leading to Marrero’s arrest. The act of vandalism resulted in $2,623.66 worth of damage to the electric car door’s handle mechanism. The owner of the vehicle expressed feeling targeted due to the divide in the country and referenced Tesla founder Elon Musk’s controversial involvement in the Trump Administration.

Marrero, a 45-year-old resident of Hallandale Beach, admitted to the crime when confronted by authorities. She was taken into custody after being spotted by a mall security guard in the food court. As of Friday, she remained in police custody on a $2,500 bond.

The incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of reckless behavior and the importance of respecting others’ property. Vandalism not only causes financial harm but also disrupts the peace and security of individuals. It is essential to handle disagreements and conflicts in a peaceful and legal manner to avoid such unnecessary consequences.
