France Plans To Distribute ‘Survival Manual’ To Help Citizens Prepare For War, Disasters

France is set to distribute a 20-page survival manual booklet to every household in preparation for potential emergencies, including wartime scenarios. The manual aims to empower citizens to enhance their resilience in the face of various crises, such as natural disasters, technological incidents, health emergencies like Covid-19, and security threats like terrorist attacks and armed conflicts.

If approved, the survival manual will consist of three sections, each offering valuable tips on how to stay safe and protect one’s family during emergency situations. The guidelines will include information on which radio stations to listen to, maintaining a list of emergency contacts, and ensuring all doors are closed in the event of a nuclear explosion.

Additionally, the manual will provide insights on how individuals can contribute to community protection by joining reserve units or volunteering with local firefighting teams. Inspired by similar initiatives in Sweden and Finland, the French survival booklet will also recommend households to maintain a ‘survival kit’ containing essentials such as bottled water, non-perishable food items, batteries, a flashlight, and medical supplies.

President Emmanuel Macron recently announced a significant security reform, aiming to increase the number of operational reservists from 40,000 to 100,000 by 2035. Macron emphasized the importance of defense preparedness to prevent conflicts and ensure the safety of the country and the continent.

The French government’s proactive approach to emergency preparedness underscores the significance of citizen engagement and being informed about potential threats. By equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and resources, France is striving to enhance its readiness to respond effectively in times of crisis.
