Gabby Petito’s mom claims Brian Laundrie’s room was ‘gutted’ soon after he went missing
Nichole Schmidt, the mother of Gabby Petito, recently revealed shocking information about the actions of Brian Laundrie’s parents while he was missing. In an interview on the podcast “The Squeeze” with Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay, Schmidt disclosed that Laundrie’s parents allegedly “gutted and renovated” his room while he was hiding, following the disappearance of Gabby Petito.
According to Schmidt, she was informed by an unidentified individual that Brian Laundrie’s room was completely empty and devoid of his belongings during the time he was missing. The individual also noted that there was something “wrong” with Laundrie’s mother, Roberta, suggesting that she may not have been mentally well at the time.
The revelation of the Laundries’ actions deeply upset Schmidt, who expressed frustration at the lack of accountability for what they did. Despite her anger, Schmidt acknowledged that there was little she could do to make them pay for their actions.
Roberta Laundrie has been suspected of aiding her son in evading law enforcement while he was a key suspect in Gabby Petito’s murder. The Laundries’ refusal to cooperate with authorities and provide information about Brian’s whereabouts only added to the distress of Petito’s family.
At CrimeCon 2024 in Nashville, Tenn., Schmidt made a surprising statement, forgiving Brian Laundrie for his actions. However, she directed her anger towards Roberta Laundrie, accusing her of lacking empathy, remorse, and responsibility for her role in the tragedy.
The Petito family believes that the Laundries were complicit in covering up Brian’s crime and helping him escape justice. Both of Laundrie’s parents admitted to being concerned about Petito’s well-being after their son’s erratic behavior following her murder.
After Brian Laundrie returned home from Wyoming without Gabby Petito, he went camping with his family while her loved ones searched for answers. Tragically, Petito’s body was found in Grand Teton National Park, with investigators determining that she had been strangled to death.
